Северный Кавказ

Северный Кавказ—многонациональный и густонаселенный макрорегион России, который получил своё название благодаря горному массиву, протянувшемся почти на 1100 километров от Чёрного до Каспийского моря. Быстрые реки, берущие своё начало от горных ледников, вращают турбины множества гидроэлектростанций. Здесь расположена старейшая гидроэлектростанция РусГидро—построенная по плану ГОЭЛРО Гизельдонская ГЭС (введена в эксплуатацию в 1934 году). Чиркейская ГЭС благодаря своей высотной арочной плотине признана одной из самых красивых в России. Всего у РусГидро в этом регионе более 40 гидроэлектростанций, включая самую новую Зарамагскую ГЭС-1.

The North Caucasus is a multinational and densely populated macroregion of Russia which takes its name from the mountain range that stretches almost 1,100 kilometers from the Black Sea to the Caspian. Rapid rivers originating from mountain glaciers drive the turbines of numerous hydroelectric power plants. Here is where the oldest RusHydro hydroelectric power plant is located, the Gizeldonskaya HPP, built as part of GOELRO plan (commissioned in 1934). Also found here is the Chirkeyskaya HPP which, thanks to its high-rise arched dam, is considered one of the most scenic in Russia. RusHydro has more than 40 hydroelectric power plants in this region, including the newest Zaramagskaya HPP-1.
